Did You #DoTheRex Yet?

DoTheRex Youtube 6 May

How can you make a condom ad go viral, you ask? Well, take some cool music and lyrics, add some rap to it, sprinkle in some Bollywood masala and there you have it! And that’s exactly what Durex, the global leader in sexual well being, did to gain quite a lot of eyeballs on social media.

Last month, Durex launched the “DoTheRex” campaign featuring Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh as the brand ambassador. Unlike the usual condom ads which objectify women, this campaign is different as it uses the quirky side of Ranveer to convey the ‘Have Safe Sex’ message to youngsters in a fun way. Incidentally, this is the first time that a male Indian actor is associated with a condom brand. I must say that’s a brave move by our very own Bollywood ka Gunda.  Continue reading

Why I Chose SPJIMR Over YIF?

SPJIMR

Well, a lot of people have asked me this. Actually, not a lot but only a few who truly understand what YIF is and hence the question. For others, it seems there is no comparison. Anyways, I have been thinking of writing this for long, so today is the day.

For those who don’t know, YIF stands for Young India Fellowship. Simply put, it is a one-year post-graduate program which is multidisciplinary and is guided by the best of the best in their field. The Young India Fellowship, like it says on the website, seeks to groom young women and men who will lead India through the 21st century. Continue reading

What Are We Celebrating On Republic Day?

India Republic Day

Simply stated, 26th January is a day which marks the implementation of the Indian Constitution. The foundation of the Constitution is based on the principles of justice, liberty, and equality for all Indians. 63 years later, I think the country is doing a great job in forgetting the guiding principles on which the Constitution and our country was formed.

Today, Justice – social, economic or political is a dream for most. In order to get Justice in this country, one has to initiate protest marches and sit on fasts. On one hand, we have the liberty of thought but sadly it is caged in so many laws that it really is worthless. And what do I say about Equality? There is hardly any present in today’s society. Hurdles For an Aspiring Entrepreneur From an Indian Middle Class Family

Middle class

Since I decided to take the path of an entrepreneur, I have met a lot of people in the past one year. A lot of them have genuinely asked me this question, “How did you convince your parents?”

Well, I belong to a very typical middle-class Indian family. No one in my family has even run a business, no one. In fact, most of my family members are into government jobs. When I told them what I was up to, they thought I had lost my mind. Well, they still think so. And this is not the story just for me. In fact, this is a very common occurrence and I am sure a lot of Indian entrepreneurs can relate to this. Continue reading

The Professor as an Entrepreneur

entrepreneur

All those who know me well know that my ultimate goal in life is to be an entrepreneur and a teacher. If I combine both, we get a new term “Academic Entrepreneur.” And that is what I want to be. And like Prof. Randy Pausch said in The Last Lecture, “If you can sell, why not sell education.”

I have always believed Professors are entrepreneurs. Now don’t go rolling on the floor laughing about that statement. I am sure many of you do not agree, maybe because you never had that kind of teachers around you. But I am sure some would agree as well who have had the chance to study and work with some of the academic entrepreneurs around the world. In simple terms, that is what I think Professors should be. They should be entrepreneurs, academic entrepreneurs. Continue reading
